Visa Document Guide

Create a file that is complete, readable and consistent.

Create a document index

Group evidence into identity, purpose, finances and any sponsor or family records. Use descriptive filenames, such as bank-statement-month-year, without changing the underlying evidence.

Check the source of every record

Obtain documents from the actual issuing person or institution. Check that the date, name and contact details are legible. Never alter a document to conceal a gap or make it appear stronger.

Use the required format

The authority may specify file types, sizes, translations, certification or originals. Follow the checklist for your submission location. Keep originals safe and preserve copies of exactly what you submit.

Resolve inconsistencies

Compare spellings, date formats and addresses across the file. A genuine discrepancy needs a truthful explanation and supporting record where possible. More pages are not always more useful evidence.

This is general preparation guidance. The official instructions for your destination and route determine the evidence and procedure required.
